[Unfiltered] Fall TV...
Sep. 14th, 2011 08:14 amSo the Fall TV season is just around the corner (or in some cases, just starting). I feel a little weird about this this year-- normally I really look forward to it, but there's a lot of shows that I just don't know if I want to follow this year. Warning; spoilers will be mentioned in my explanations if you aren't current on the shows.
Shows I'm definitely interested in:
Shows I'm unsure about:
New shows I'm going to give a try:
One thing that I'm really happy about is that I'm seeing episodes from last Fall on CBS showing up on Amazon Unbox (like Hawaii 50). CBS has been off of Unbox for the last 2 or so years, so seeing them return there is quite welcome. I know they've been on iTunes, but I won't buy TV from iTunes until they change their re-download policy (I don't feel like tying up gigs of HD space on my computer because they have a download-once-only policy). Rentals are one thing (though I can't stream them to my TV, I can still watch them on my laptop or desktop) but purchases are another.
Shows I'm definitely interested in:
- Hawaii 50
- CSI: NY
- CSI: Miami
- Castle
- Chuck
- NCIS
- NCIS: LA
- The Mentalist
- Breakout Kings
- Body of Proof -- with

Shows I'm unsure about:
- House -- the end episode of last season was just... horrifying. Watching House commit domestic violence with blatant disregard towards the welfare of innocents (like Cuddy's kid) just appalled me. I'm glad he's going to jail as a result, but they're going to have to try hard to redeem the character to the point where I'll pay money to watch the show.
- Supernatural -- I'm sorry, but the show has gone downhill since Kripke moved on. Sarah just doesn't have the vision that he had for this show, and I'm really disappointed with what they did to Castiel at the end of last season. Not sure if I'm going to bother this season-- though I will at least watch the ep with Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters in it.
- Fringe -- somewhere along the way I just lost interest in this show. I actually didn't finish the last episode of last season with the spoilers floating around about how they were mucking with the timeline to eliminate Joshua Jackson's character. I'll probably watch that episode before making any decisions about this season.
- Bones -- I've always thought that Bones and Booth should hook up. But the way they handled it was completely disappointing. Out of nowhere, she's pregnant... what?? On the other hand, I really like the forensics on the show and may watch it just for that part.
- Nikita -- like Fringe, I just kinda petered out on this last season and didn't watch the finale. I'll get back to that and then figure out if I want to check out the new season. I have to say that the show, while good, is not on the same caliber as La Femme Nikita was.
- Private Practice -- last season was very dark, depressing, and I'm just not sure if I want to go through that again. On the other hand, I'm curious to see what happens with the reorg of the practice. I have to say good riddance to Naomi; her character had some pretty appalling moral stances last season, although she did seem to get her act together at the end.
New shows I'm going to give a try:
- Ringer -- Sarah Michelle Geller :)
- Unforgettable -- Dylan Walsh from Nip/Tuck
- Person of Interest -- crime drama with a side of Minority Report
- A Gifted Man -- a doctor becomes a medium...
- The Finder -- Bones spin-off
- Alcatraz -- looks like a crime version of 4400
- Terra Nova -- kinda reminds me of Lost with time travel
- Combat Hospital -- combat medical show
